New Bi Group for over 50s in London UK [10 Oct 2013|10:54am]

nitoda
[ mood | accomplished ]

Announcing it here and in other places, so apologies if you see it multiple times.

There is a new Bi Group (for over 50s) starting on Monday 21st October and repeating every third Monday of the month at Tavis House, Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9NA. Time is from 5.00 - 8.00 pm, and there is potential for going out for food or a drink afterwards. The venue is a meeting room in AgeUK Camden's office building. We can get a cup of tea/coffee, bring snacks/food if we want to. No money required to attend at all! Unless you still have to pay for transport, that is. Over 60s of course, don't.

This has come about after I discovered Opening Doors London in the summer and asked them what they were doing for bi folks and suggested a meeting specifically for bisexuals on ICBD (Bi Visibility Day). The meeting was well attended and those present were keen to see a group set up. I hope it will also draw from the existing membership of ODL as well as helping them to attract other older bisexuals in the capital.

If there is any way you can help me spread the word, please do!

plug for Saturday [25 Jun 2009|10:20am]

Hi,

Just a quick message to remind you that THIS SATURDAY, 27TH JUNE sees the return of the indomitable EARGASM to the mighty venue that is the RAILWAY, Hackney Central.

We've already been polishing our 45s in readiness, have changed the bulb in the police light, and hope to see you from 8pm onwards. Don't forget that the Railway is now licensed til 3AM(!) so this should be a good one.

As always, we'll be indulging your household goods related urges with the amazing prizes in our soon-to-be-legendary Crap Tombola (star prize is once again a ladle) and have another fantastic guest DJ in the person of Lauren Ding of the frankly amazing ETHICAL DEBATING SOCIETY - one of North London's hottest Riot Grrrrrrl punky-screamy combos ever.

Go on, save the cost of a taxi back from Shoreditch whilst still managing to avoid having to watch four hours of crap sitcoms. Let's drink lots of cider - have lots of fun. You know you want to. See you at Eargasm!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

We Continue is a brand new daytime event designed to change the way you think about partying and give a different shape to your weekend.

You spoke and we listened! Its uplifting house, its bouncy electro, its comfy sofas and quirky décor, it’s in South London and best of all, IT’S FREE!!!

We’re thrilled to be holding our first ever party at the legendary Dogstar in Brixton, a venue steeped in musical history which has played host to some amazing live bands and parties over the years and this will be their first ever Sunday afternoon party!

If you’ve never been to the Dogstar before (and even if you have) you can’t fail to be stunned by the surrealist décor which is different in each and every room. We’re lucky enough to be having our party in the VIP suite, a gorgeous, intimate room with comfy sofas and armchairs, a perfectly proportioned dance space, chandeliers, a private bar and almost panoramic views of Brixton’s buzzing community thanks to the huge windows. The Dogstar is only a 5 minute walk from Brixton tube and overground train services.

Sunday afternoon just got a lot more interesting.

Sunday Saviours:
MARCO DEL HORNO (Rinse FM)
NOT SHY (This Is Not A Rave/CAT)
SOOTHSAYER (Disco 3001)
JASMINE (Dice, No Judgement)
KILLEMILIO (Dice, UpTownBoogieDown)

GIMMEMORGY present BUKAKKE at the world famous Macbeth Pub, Hoxton
Saturday 12th April      £4

My friends are throwing a night, and it will be very very big.
Come and feed your ears on an array of london's most exciting new music.
The evening will be a journey through musical genres, often stopping at familiar, comfortable landmarks, but also treading off of the beaten path into dark, exciting, unknown worlds of both electronic and acoustic acts.

BUKKAKE makes its explosive kaleidescope debut onto the forever unsuspecting steppes of London's knightlife. Forever long the home to shady poets and drunken preachers, smoky eyed full lipped femme fatales that enjoy nothing more than clear eyed gentlemen with wide vocabularies and deep pockets. Shelter to those hungry for the flesh and all things lucid, keepers of all secrets whispered in those rare moments of honesty yet are only to be blown apart into sound through speakers that know that after silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.

The dress code is decadent, dangerous and dandy, wear what you would only be too happy to die in, become immortal with strange and friendly company. Happy vibes given to those that look outrageous with that mocking edge of irresistibility.

We present to you the finest of musical innovative talent with such performers as:-

TOM McFARLAND (live) - Folk

ARTHUR DELANEY (live) - Folk

THE MYSTERONS (live) - Dub/Reggae/Ska

MY PANDA SHALL FLY (live) - Electronica/IDM/Trip Hop

STAZI STATIC (live) - Electronica/Jazz Fusion/Post Rock/Carnival

WITH BUKKAKE DJ SETS FROM:-

ALPAL - IDM/Ambient/Electronica/Folktronica/Experimental/Shoegaze/Folk/Dub/Reggae/Minimal

HENRY GIBBS - 50's and 60's ROCK AND OR ROLL

JACK JEWELL - IDM/Ambient/Electronica/Folktronica/Trip Hop/Experimental/Shoegaze/Folk/Dub/Reggae/Hip Hop

JAMES PLAXTON - IDM/Electronica/Techno/Breakbeat/Hardcore

DRAGNET - Dubstep!

It's nothing to do with free events in London really. More a question:

Does anyone know what are those yellow stars painted on pavements around London? Big yellow stars in a circle, they look like the symbol for the EU but someone I know reckons they're to do with gun crime.

Anyone got any ideas?
